Residential Paving

IMG-20250220-WA0031

Overview, Challenge & Materials

This residential paving project involved replacing a worn, cracked driveway with a brand-new asphalt surface. The homeowner wanted an upgrade that would not only enhance the curb appeal of the property but also stand up to harsh weather conditions. Our team at Access PNC removed the existing driveway, regraded the site for proper drainage, and installed a durable asphalt layer—ensuring a smooth, long-lasting finish.

Challenges:

  • Drainage Issues: The existing driveway had low spots that collected water. We corrected the slope to direct runoff away from the garage and foundation.
  • Limited Space: With the homeowner’s landscaping and fencing close by, our crew had to work in a confined area. We carefully maneuvered equipment to minimize any disruption to the property.

Materials & Process:

  1. Removal & Excavation – We carefully removed the old pavement and excavated the underlying soil to reach a stable subgrade.
  2. Sub-Base Installation – A layer of gravel sub-base was compacted to provide a solid foundation for the asphalt.
  3. Asphalt Paving – We applied and compacted hot-mix asphalt, ensuring an even surface.
  4. Finishing & Sealing – After the asphalt cured, we sealed the surface for added protection against moisture and wear.

Results & Benefits

  • Enhanced Curb Appeal: The fresh asphalt driveway immediately improved the look of the home’s exterior.
  • Longevity & Durability: Proper grading and a quality sealcoat help extend the lifespan of the driveway, saving the homeowner money in the long run.
  • Improved Drainage: By fixing the slope and grading, we prevented puddles and potential water damage near the foundation.
